Sun Chips is expected to open its Buffalo, New York, location in early 2019, The Buffalo News reported on Friday.
The new location, which is expected a few years after the company announced it would be opening its first store in the city, will be a new restaurant with an outdoor patio and dining room.
Sun Chips, a New York-based food service company, is looking to expand its Buffalo franchise in the coming years, and has been looking for an indoor restaurant to open, a person familiar with the plans told the Buffalo News.
The Buffalo location will be owned by a private equity group, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.
In January, Sun Chips announced it was closing its Buffalo location and will be relocating to an indoor location in New York.
The company also said it was in talks with a number of food service companies about opening their own Buffalo location.
As of now, Sun Chip has about 400 employees and a goal of doubling its current workforce to more than 1,000 employees, according to The Buffalo Business Times.
According to the newspaper, Sun chips has been in discussions with a host of food services companies about moving its Buffalo outpost to the new location.
One of those companies is DinerMax, which operates at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
If the Sun Chip plans move forward, the Buffalo location would likely open in early 2020, The News reported.
“I think it would open up in 2020,” The source said.
It is not known how much the Sun Chips Buffalo location has been renovated or how many people will be working there, the newspaper reported.
